Why These First 60 Days Are Crucial To Success

The beginning of each year promises a fresh start to success for you in your business or career. It carries with it a short term, built-in sense of motivation and energy for gaining new clients, getting organized, networking and creating new projects. And yet as we move through January and then February, this motivation tends to wane and morph into the same old grind. And the same old grind, the same old way of doing things, will yield the same old results.

In order to make this year more profitable than the last, I’d like you to think about this more closely while you still have the opportunity. Starting strong is not a luxury for any of us, it’s a necessity for our success. There are three crucial reasons for this:

1) Setting the Tone – the way you start something says a lot about how you value it. You’ve made business your choice for your living so attack it like you mean it. Even if you’re not on your A game, do whatever your best is to start strong this year. This means planning AND doing. If you procrastinate with the doing part then commit to changing that by taking action, one at a time.

2) Building Momentum – physics says a body at rest tends to stay at rest. That should scare the hell out of you right there. The first 60 days of the year is the best time to do some of your heavy lifting. Take advantage of the fresh start motivation and energy I mentioned and put in some extra effort now. Whether it’s networking, blogging or simply getting on the phone – big efforts now will build your momentum for the rest of the year. Get rolling now so momentum can assist you for the rest of the year.

3) Creating Success Habits – if you truly want to change your results it’s going to take changing your behaviors. Use the first 60 days of the year to identify your desired behaviors and commit to putting them in place. Perhaps it’s working out in the morning before you hit the office or once and for all taming your email inbox. Whatever it is, do it now. Create new productive habits now and your rewards will show up through out the year. By December, you’ll be in a totally different mindset and your accomplishments will be in line with your goals.

Before you know it we’ll all be thinking about Christmas again and the year will have passed. Don’t miss this opportunity that’s before you. Ensure the first 60 days of this year are your most productive ever. Do the crucial work now so you have the time later to build on it.

We all have this present moment, that’s it. Make it count.

Cheers, Michael
